Japan condemns Houthi drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities

TOKYO, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Sunday strongly denounced drone attacks by the Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia's crude oil facilities on the previous day.
"The peace and stability in the Middle East is extremely important for the peace and stability of the entire international community. Stable oil supply from the Middle East region is indispensable for the stability and prosperity of the global economy including Japan. The Japanese government strongly denounces such terror attacks," Motegi said in a statement.
"Japan remains committed to continuously engaging with the region in cooperation with countries concerned so as to maintain and reinforce the peace and stability in the Middle East," said Motegi.
On Saturday, the Saudi government announced that crude oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais in Eastern Province suffered terror attacks by drones and that oil production in Saudi Arabia has partially stopped due to the attacks. The Yemeni Shiite Houthi rebels issued a statement that they had carried out the attacks. (end) mk.gta
