Austria agrees to take back Islamic State children

VIENNA, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Austria has agreed to repatriate children of Islamic State members who hold Austrian citizenship from camps in Syria, its foreign ministry said on Saturday.
Vienna is prepared to take back two children whose mother is believed to have been killed in Syria, according to foreign ministry spokesman Peter Guschelbauer.
The children, ranging in age from one to three years old, are healthy enough to be repatriated once handover procedures are complete, he added.
Austria has so far been unwilling to take back its citizens who went to Syria to join Islamic State, deeming them a threat to national security. (end) mad.nam
