Trump seeks to relieve America of mass shootings

WASHINGTON, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump said Thursday that he had "concluded a very good meeting on preventing mass shootings." Trump tweeted that "talks are ongoing with both Republicans and Democrats." He added "we are likewise engaging with lawful gun owners, survivors, grieving family members, law enforcement, the NRA (National Rifle Association), mental health professionals, and school officials." "I am hopeful Congress will engage with my team to pass meaningful legislation that will make a real difference and, most importantly, Save Lives!" he remarked.
According to a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 52 percent expressed "disapproval" with the way Trump handled the aftermath of the two mass shooting in Texas and Ohio that killed and wounded dozens of people, while 54 percent "feel Mr. Trump bears some responsibility for the shootings due to his language in speeches and on Twitter," whereas 68 percent of respondents "expressed the US will experience another mass shooting or attack." Last week, the US House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler had announced that he is calling the Committee back into session before recess is over "to address the issue of gun violence prevention."
