Palestinian authority closely watching status at Al-Aqsa -- premier

RAMALLAH, The West Bank, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Ashtiah said on Monday that President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian government have been following up on conditions at Al-Aqsa mosque on daily basis and coordinating with Jordan in this respect.
The prime minister, speaking as he emerged from a cabinet session, stated that Israel took dangerous steps regarding the mosque over the past days, coinciding with recurring attacks by settlers, seeking to "alter the de facto status." Hardline settlers burst into the mosque compound during the recent Muslim Al-Adha Eid, attacked and wounded a number of worshippers.
Ashtiah declared a bonus for any Palestinian university graduate seeking to live in the Jordan valley and partake in productive ventures there.
Israel is seeking to enforce full control over the low lands in the east. (end) nq.rk
