Britain signs order to scrap all EU laws after Brexit

LONDON, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- The British government signed an order on Sunday to nullify all European Union's (EU) laws in the country after Brexit, putting an immediate halt to regulations flow into UK law directly from the EU's lawmaking bodies.
The repeal of the "European Communities Act 1972" will take effect when Britain formally leaves the EU on October 31, said Secretary of State for Exiting the EU Stephen Barclay.
"This is a clear signal to the people of this country that there is no turning back, we are leaving the EU as promised on October 31, whatever the circumstances, delivering on the instructions given to us in 2016," added the official.
Boris Johnson, who took over as prime minister last month, has played hardball with the EU, demanding a new deal with the single currency bloc as he seeks to take Britain out of the EU with no strings attached by October at the latest. (end) mrn.nam
