KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- 1990 -- The Iraqi regime declares "gathering" citizens of the international coalition states at key installations (as human shields) on Iraqi and Kuwaiti territories after invading Kuwait.
1990 -- The Security Council unanimously demands that Iraq allow foreigners in Kuwait and Iraq to leave and abstain from threatening their safety.
1992 -- Kuwait and France ink in Paris a defense accord to repel prospected aggression on the Gulf country.
1999 -- Kuwait Insurance Company is proclaimed at KD five million capital.
2000 -- Musician Marzouq Al-Marzouq passes away at age 54. He was one of the founding members of the Kuwait television band.
2004 -- Kuwait Oil Company declares the discovery of light crude oil well with 4,860 barrels per day's capacity at Bahra field.
2007 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research announces that Al-Manakeesh region in southern Kuwait witnessed a 4.3-degree quake.
2011 -- Kuwait called on the European Union and the United States to hold an emergency session for the Human Rights Council to discuss Syria.
2014 -- The United Nations designated Kuwait as an international humanitarian center and called His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah humanitarian leader. (end) gta
