France faces second major-heatwave in less than a month

PARIS, July 22 (KUNA) -- France is facing Monday the start of a second heatwave in less than a month, with temperatures forecasted to go above 40 degrees Celsius during mid-week, weather services said.
National weather office "Meteo France" said it was putting 27 districts out of 95 in metropolitan France on "Orange Alert", the second highest alert level.
Temperatures less than a month ago rose here to above 47 degrees in some central areas, breaking all records for a month of June. This week, "Meteo France" said those records could be broken but the heatwave is likely to be most punishing in the south of the country.
On Monday, temperatures in Paris are forecast to hit around 33 degrees Celsius, peaking in mid-week.
Government health services have issued strong recommendations for children and older people, telling them to remain inside and to hydrate regularly. (end) jk.haq
