Ukraine snap parliamentary elections begins

MOSCOW, July 21 (KUNA) -- Millions of Ukrainians headed to polls stations Sunday, voting in snap parliamentary election.
A total of 24 political parties and some 3,220 candidates from single-mandate Constituencies are running for the parliament.
The Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, has 450 seats, of which 225 will be taken through party lists and the other 225 by a majority vote in single-mandate electoral districts.
The minimum vote threshold to win a seat amounts to five percent.
The Central Election commission registered 1,719 official observes from 22 international organizational monitoring the elections.
On May, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed decree dissolving the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and scheduling snap parliamentary elections on July 21. (end) as.ss
