British Airways suspends Cairo flights for week over security grounds

LONDON, July 20 (KUNA) -- British Airways has suspended flights to Cairo for seven days pending unidentified security concerns, the BBC reported on Saturday.
In a letter handed out to passengers preparing to board a London Heathrow flight to Cairo, the airline said the move was taken as a "precaution to allow for further assessment," according to the report.
The airline added, "the safety and security of our customers and crew is always our priority, and we would never operate an aircraft unless it was safe to do so." The motive behind the decision remains unclear at the moment.
Meanwhile, Britain's Foreign Office updated travel advice for its nationals, mentioning a "heightened risk of terrorism against aviation" along with "additional security measures" having been put in place for all flights to Egypt. (end) tk.sd
