Iran: Britain's oil tanker turns off tracker, ignores warnings - IRNA

TEHRAN, July 19 (KUNA) -- Iran said on Friday the British oil tanker seized by the Iranian navy at the Strait of Hormuz turned off its tracker and went to the opposite direction.
"The tanker turned off the tracker and ignored Iran's warnings sent to it," Iran's news agency (IRNA) quoted a military source as saying.
Iran's revolutionary guards announced earlier in the day that the tanker was stopped at the Strait and taken to the Iranian coasts to study legal measures.
The tanker set sail from UAE's Fujairah's port to Saudi Arabia.
A few days ago, Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei vowed to retaliate to Britain's seizure of Iran's oil tanker off Gibraltar.
Britain claimed that the Iranian tanker violated the European sanctions imposed on Syria, saying the tanker was carrying oil to that Arab country.
Britain's foreign minister Jeremy Hunt declared that Iran impounded two oil tankers; a British one and another with Liberia's flag, at Hurmuz Strait.
He expressed his great concern over this incident. (end) mw.hm
