OFID begins 40th ministerial meeting with Kuwaiti participation

VIENNA, July 18 (KUNA) -- The 40th meeting for the ministers of OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) began Thursday with the participation of Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf and Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Al-Bader.
The meeting is expected to discuss OFID's general policies and future strategies to stimulate economic growth and lessen the impact of poverty on underprivileged communities around the globe.
The annual OFID awards for development and progress are expected to be announced during the event as well.
In 1976, members of OPEC established OFID in Vienna as an entity dedicated for growth in underdeveloped countries. Some 132 countries had benefited from OFID's assistance. (end) mah.gta
