Kuwaiti official: UNCITRAL has key role to develop economic legislations

VIENNA, July 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Fatwa and Legislation Administration Undersecretary Huda Al-Shaiji underscored on Tuesday key role of United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) for updating states' economic legislations.
Al-Shaiji said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), at end of UNICTRAL's 52nd session, that the UN committee provides solutions to countries in development and economic growth.
Kuwait is eager to benefit from the international expertise in the development of legislation and economic laws in order to achieve vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to transform the country into a financial and commercial hub.
The meeting discussed topics to modernize and develop the economic legislation and partnership between the private and public sector, she indicated, stressing the opportunity to learn about the experience of other countries in this field.
The participation in these meetings comes to emphasize Kuwait's commitment to international conventions, Al-Shaiji pointed out.
UNCITRAL, which includes 60 countries with Kuwait, is the main legal body of the UN's system in the field of international trade law at the 52nd session.
The participating Kuwaiti delegation includes Deputy Director of Fatwa and Legislation Nasser Al-Mohareb, Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Ajeel and Legal Researcher Shamlan Al-Ayoub. (end) mah.lr
