Putin vows efforts to promote Palestinian-Israeli talks

MOSCOW, July 12 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday reaffirmed that his country would continuously seek to push forward the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
The Russian president made the remark in a phone conversation with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Kremlin said in a press statement.
"The President of Russia reaffirmed Russia's readiness to continue its efforts to promote the peace process, including the resumption of direct Palestinian-Israeli talks aimed at finding mutually acceptable solutions," it said.
The Palestinian leader expressed gratitude for Russia's diplomatic efforts to stimulate the intra-Palestinian reconciliation, according to the statement.
The two leaders had an in-depth exchange of opinion on the Middle East settlement, and discussed current topics of bilateral cooperation, primarily the strengthening of ties in the humanitarian sphere, it added. (end) as.mt
