KUWAIT, July 8 (KUNA) -- 1965 -- An Amiri Decree is issued stipulating establishment of the Credit and Savings Bank as a public authority with an independent administration under the supervision of the finance minister, aimed at providing real estate and agriculture credit facilities to citizens.
1975 -- The Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues law ratifying the agreement for establishment of the Arab Petroleum Investment Corporation.
1995 -- An Amiri decree is issued joining the private sector in construction of state property for housing care projects.
1997 -- Sudanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mustafa Osman Ismail arrives in Kuwait on the first visit by an official from his country since the Iraqi invasion in 1990.
2000 -- Former Kuwaiti footballer and the first to earn a FIFA-recognized refereeing license in 1960 Yousef Suwaidan passes away at age 63.
2003 -- Amiri decrees is issued approving establishment of the American University of Kuwait, the Australian College of Kuwait and the Gulf University for Science and Technology.
2008 -- Ophthalmologist Dr. Mubarak Al-Ajmi conducts a critical and rare surgery in Kuwait for a 22-year-old girl who lost her sight due to a clot in the main artery of the retina.
2018 -- Court of Cassation issues a verdict on a Court of Appeal's ruling in the 2017 National Assembly case, sentencing 13 defendants to three years and six months in prison in addition to three individuals to two years of imprisonment. Thirty other defendants were acquitted. Amongst those receiving a-three-year-sentence were MPs Waleed Al-Tabtabai and Jam'an Al-Herbesh as well as former MPs Msalam Al-Barrakh, Mubarak Al-Wal'an and Salem Al-Namlan. (end) gta
