Kuwait participates in Vienna int'l conf. of science, technology

VIENNA, June 25 (KUNA) -- A delegation from the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) participated Tuesday in the 2019 CTBT Science and Technology Conference held in Vienna.
Dr. Mane' Al-Sedarawy, Executive Director of Science and Technology, Dr. Mufarreh Al-Rashidi, Director of Department of Health and Safety Institute, and Dr. Sabah Al-Mumen participated in the conference..
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Sedarawy said KISR team presented a scientific paper on the effects of temperature inversion on radionuclides that are measured by the monitoring station located at the main building of KISR.
Al-Mumen represented Dr Sameera Al-Sayed Omar, KISR's General Director, in an event on the sidelines of the conference on women and science, as well as a meeting discussing an process including a group of women scientists from around the world.
Al-Sedarawy added, the most important obstacles which limit the engagement of women workforce in the scientific world were reviewed.
Vienna-based Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty is organizing the 2019 Science and Technology Conference that has been held every two years since 2006.
KISR is participating because the conference offers a chance for researchers to exchange their scientific experiments and programs, and look into latest developments in these fields.
The Conference began on Monday to discuss mechanisms needed to strengthen CBTB's abilities to verify nuclear tests.
Present in the conference almost a 1,000 delegates from scientists, academic and educational institutions.
The conference is an attempt to strengthen relations between policy makers on one side, and scientific institutions related to nuclear testing. (end) amq.aq
