EU extends sanctions by one year linked with annexation of Crimea

BRUSSELS, June 20 (KUNA) - The European Union Thursday prolonged sanctions introduced in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia until 23 June 2020.
The measures apply to EU persons and EU based companies. They are limited to the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, said an EU statement.
The sanctions include prohibitions on imports of products originating in Crimea or Sevastopol into the EU, investment in Crimea or Sevastopol, tourism services in Crimea or Sevastopol, exports of certain goods and technologies to Crimean companies or for use in Crimea in the transport, telecommunications and energy sectors .
Since March 2014, the statement noted that the EU has progressively imposed sanctions against Russia in response to this deliberate destabilization of Ukraine, including the sanctions renewed today. (end) nk.aa
