BAGHDAD, June 20 (KUNA) -- Iraqi newspapers on Thursday expressed great interest in the historic visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Baghdad on Wednesday.
Assabah Iraqi Newspaper devoted its front page to talk about the visit with a picture that covered half of the page of His Highness the Amir written "Welcome to Mesopotamia" While referring to its main report Manchet (Kuwait and Iraq are close to resolving the outstanding issues between them).
The report described the visit as historic and successful, pointing out that it discussed the most important issues and developments on the regional scene.
The newspaper noted that the official meetings of His Highness the Amir with both Iraqi President Barham Saleh and Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi and Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halbousi were successful.
While Azzaman newspaper published an extensive report titled (Iraqi leadership call on Kuwait to close the page of the past and contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq).
The newspaper highlighted the meetings between the Amir and the accompanying delegation with the three Iraqi presidencies and the results of joint talks between the ministers of the two countries.
Al-Zawraa newspaper, whose chairman is the head of Iraqi journalists syndicate Moaid Allami, focused on His Highness the Amir's remarks in which he stressed that Kuwait believes in the importance of Iraq's stability and the keenness to support it.
His Highness the Amir's visit is his second to Baghdad after his first in March 2012 to participate in the Arab summit. (end) ahh.gaa
