Attacked oil tankers leave Iran's territorial waters

TEHRAN, June 15 (KUNA) -- Iranian authorities said Saturday the recently attacked oil tankers have already left Iran's territorial waters, sailing to United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Iran's southern Hormozgan province Afifi-pour was quoted by Iran's official news agency (IRNA) as saying that the Panama-flagged ship moved toward Khor Fakkan Port in the UAE on Friday.
The Marshal Islands-flagged tanker also is now sailing to the same port, the Iranian official added.
Iranian reports said 44 sailors of the oil tankers which were hit by explosions in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday morning were rescued by an Iranian vessel.
The two tankers, the Marshal Islands-flagged and the Panama-flagged, were on their ways to Taiwan and Singapore from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, respectively. (end) mw.mt
