KUWAIT, June 15 (KUNA) -- 1831 -- Plague spread during era of Sheikh Jaber bin Abdullah Al-Sabah. Cemeteries are over packed with the dead and some families had to bury their dead at homes. Some statistics showed that the deadly disease claimed lives of 60 percent of Kuwait's populace.
1969 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues an Amiri Decree regulating the Ministry of Defense, addressing personnel training, arming the army and taking defense measures.
1978 -- Head of the Palestine Liberation Organization's bureau in Kuwait, Ali Yassin, is assassinated. Abu Nidal group, a shadowy Palestinian faction, was accused of being behind the killing.
1980 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree into law, approving an accord for establishing the Arab Gulf University.
1983 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree into law establishing the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fisheries.
2016 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research wins a US patent for inventing a sea waves' breaker.
1991 -- Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah passes away at the age of 77. He contributed to modernizing Kuwait; co-establishing Kuwait Radio in 1952 and serving as police chief in 1959.
2015 --Hadi Hayef Al-Huwailah, former member of the National Assembly, passed away. He was 76. (end) gta
