MoH presents goals, benefits from others' experiences - Kuwait Min.

By Tamer Abul-Enein GENEVA, May 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Health (MoH) Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah on Saturday underlined his ministry's eagerness to partake actively in World Health Organization (WHO) meetings.
In a statement to KUNA, the minister discussed the 72nd Session of the WHO's World Health Assembly (WHA), which was held from May 20-28.
Kuwait is keen to exchange experiences with the heads of delegations and the WHO advisers on issues to conclude proper decisions, he added.
The conclusions will strengthen health security and systems, addressing this country's ongoing efforts to attain objectives of the 2030 sustainable development plan related to health, he explained.
Sheikh Basel Al-Sabah pointed out the importance of the coverage on the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health and the draft global action plan to the promotion of the health of refugees and migrants.
He confirmed the report of Director-General of WHO Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus about the concerns of the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan, is vital, especially after its adoption by the General Assembly.
He pointed out the report of the International Health Regulations (IHR) was reviewed and studied before the General Assembly.
Kuwait was monitoring the discussion of the draft global plan of action on health, environment and climate change and the follow-up to the high-level meetings of the UN's General Assembly (UNGA) this fall.
The Kuwaiti MoH also noted the prevention and response to chronic non-communicable diseases and to counteract antimicrobial resistance.
Kuwait is eager to learn the mechanisms of the member states in dealing with low quality and fake medical products, he added.
Sheikh Bassel Al-Sabah pointed to Kuwait's preparations for the implementation of the 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and many other financial, administrative and transformation plans for the work of the WHO as well as progress reports on the continuation of the decisions taken by the General Assembly.
The official delegation accompanying the Kuwaiti MoH at the meetings of the 72nd session in Geneva includes a team of leaders, consultants and specialists. (end) ta.lr
