Iran ready to abide by nuclear deal "same as France did"

TEHRAN, May 21 (KUNA) -- Iran is ready to abide by the nuclear agreement "in the same way" that France and other European partners have committed to agreeing over the last year.
"Tehran has the willingness to support and abide by the nuclear agreement in the same way that France and its European partners have supported the agreement over the past year and will do all they can to implement it, just like France," Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a press statement.
"We believe that such behavior must be convincing to the French who call for full support of the nuclear agreement," Mousavi said.
This came hours after the French Foreign Ministry called on Iran to continue to implement all its obligations under the nuclear agreement it signed with the international powers in 2015 and to refrain from any measures that may be considered a violation of its obligations under the agreement.
Iran signed an agreement regard its nuclear program with Germany and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (Russia, the United States, France, China and Britain), which stipulates Tehran's commitment to abandon at least 10 years of vital parts of its nuclear program.
Therefore, preventing it from having the capability to develop nuclear weapons in return for lifting sanctions.
However, the US withdrew from the agreement last year and began a campaign of sanctions on Tehran due to its nuclear program. (end) mw.mb
