Austria to hold snap elections after gov't corruption scandal

VIENNA, May 18 (KUNA) -- Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on Saturday called for snap elections in the wake of a corruption scandal involving the Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, who earlier resigned as a result.
The elections would be carried out "at the earliest possible date," Kurz said, after a video emerged of the vice chancellor discussing state contracts with an unidentified woman, claiming to be a Russian investor.
Kurz' People's party (OVP) has been involved in a coalition government with the Strache's nationalist Freedom party (FPO).
"After yesterday's video, I must say quite honestly: Enough is enough," added Kurz. (end) amg.sd
