Palestinians blast German decision on BDS as "biased" towards Israel

AMMAN, May 18 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian National Council (PNC) said on Saturday the German parliament decision to consider the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement as "anti-Semitic" encourages racial discrimination practiced by Israel against the Palestinian people.
In a press statement, the PNC said the European Parliament should side with the international law and the international legitimacy resolutions as well as justice and right.
The council expressed its "great sorrow" over the response of the German lawmakers to pressures and claims made by supporters of the Israeli occupation in Germany against the BDS.
The BDS is calling for a peaceful ending of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land, establishing an independent Palestinian state and helping Palestinian people obtain all rights in accordance with the international legitimacy resolutions.
The PNC called on the German parliament to rescind the draft as well as support the right of Palestinians to self-determination and set up their state with East Jerusalem as their capital.
The council further called on the German government to recognize the Palestinian State and press to end the racial Israeli occupation.
It also urged the European Parliament, and Arab and Islamic parliamentary union to put pressures on the German legislature to cancel the draft.
The BDS was founded in 2005 upon a call by 170 Palestinian civil society organizations, with the aim of boycotting and implementing sanctions against Israel so as to make it comply with international law. (end) mjb.hm
