Anti-IS coalition admits 34 civilian deaths in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON, April 25 (KUNA) -- The Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) has admitted the "unintentional" killing of 34 civilians by coalition airstrikes in Syria and Iraq.
In its monthly report issued Thursday, the CJTF-OIR said it carried out assessment of 146 alleged civilian casualty reports from previous months and received seven new ones.
Of the reports it reviewed, the CJTF-OIR determined that 11 were credible, revealing 34 unintentional civilian deaths.
"One hundred and twenty two reports are still open, including three that had been previously closed, but were reopened due to the availability of new information," the Joint Task Force said.
It added that this takes the number of civilian casualties of the coalition operations in Syria and Iraq, over the past four and a half years up, to 1,291 people.
