1972 -- Kuwait joins an international agreement to save astronauts and send them back to their own countries.
1972 -- Kuwait joins the International Treaty on Barring Illegal Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.
1983 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree defining governors' jurisdictions and establishing the Governorates' Affairs Council.
1991 -- International observers are deployed along the Kuwaiti-Iraqi borders in line with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 689.
