ADEN, April 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Al-Najah Charity handed out on Tuesday 476 food parcels to internally displaced persons who fled their homes in Ta'iz and Hudaydah governorates to Lahij, south Yemen.
Lauding the humanitarian assistance, first undersecretary of Lahij Governorate Saleh Al-Bakri said the Kuwaiti government and non-government fund-raising agencies play an essential rule in alleviating the suffering of IDPs across Yemen.
This relief effort comes as no surprise from Kuwait which has longstanding contributions to Yemen, he said in a press release.
The move is part of a relief campaign carried out by Yanai'a Al-Khair foundation in collaboration with Najat Charity, according to a statement by the foundation.
The campaign targets offering famine relief for 1,428 displaced families living in camps in Kirsh and Ja'olah areas in Lahij, the statement added. (end)
