KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- State-owned Kuwait National Petroleum Co. (KNPC) said it extinguished a "limited" fire in an oil processing unit at Al-Ahmadi Port Refinery, south of the country.
"KNPC firefighters managed to secure the fire, classified a category (1) of limited risk, rapidly and without any losses," Deputy CEO and spokesman Bassim Al-Issa told KUNA.
Production at the refinery was unaffected by the incident, he underlined, adding that "work is being carried out to return the unit to its regular state."
Investigations into the causes behind the incident are also ongoing to ensure it is not repeated.
KNPC remains steadfast in its commitment to the safety of its various sites in order to ensure the safety of its employees and that the flow of its operations moves according to schedule. (end)
