Today in Kuwait's history

KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA)

1928 -- A plane with a British pilot and co-pilot on board landed in Kuwait. They asked government permission to offer flight over the country for any one in exchange for 15 rupees.
1942 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed the first trade agreement during reign of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
1973 -- Iraqi forces carry out armed attack inside Kuwaiti lands, occupies two border centers, one of the known as "Al-Samta" center.
1977 -- A decree was issued on law 86, 1977, to approve the agreement of establishing the International Fund for Agricultural Development which was signed by Kuwait in New York on March 4, 1977.
1991 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued a decree to form the 15th Cabinet in the history of Kuwait which included 20 ministers and was chaired by His Highness the late Father Amir and the Crown Prince Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1991 -- The first edition of the daily "Al-Fajr Al-Jadeed" was issued to be the second newspaper to be printed following the war to liberate Kuwait. The editors in chief were Yousef Al-Olayan and Dr.Yaseen Al-Yaseen. The paper published for a year and eight months, till the minister of information decided to close it on December 31, 1992.
2000 -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) joined the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) during meetings in Moscow.
2003 -- "Al-Shuwaikh" seafront project was launched.
2003 -- A Kuwaiti prominent figure, Essa Abdullah Bahman, 72, passed away. He was a member of the National Assembly for three legislative terms in 1967, 1971, 1975 for the first constituency, Al-Sharg, and was elected as a member in the Municipal Council in 1964.
2005 -- Energy Minister and Acting Health Minister Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah laid cornerstone of the first specialized center for the care of children with incurable diseases in the Middle East named, bamed Bayt Abdullah Children's Hospice.
2018 -- Foreign Ministry recalls Philippine Ambassador and delivers to him two formal compliants regarding abuse by a number of Philippine officials to the State of Kuwait. (end) mb
