ANKARA, April 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Al-Najah Charity laid on Wednesday the foundation stone of a school for Syrian refugee students living in Sanliurfa city, south Turkey, in the presence of the city's Governor Abdullah Erin.
The modern school, the sixth being built by Al-Najah for student refugees, has an occupancy of more than 1,000 students, director of Al-Najah's overseas education division Ibrahim Al-Bader told KUNA.
He affirmed the Charity's commitment to provision of all facilities for the school and ensuring a suitable educational environment for the students.
He noted that the Charity attaches great importance to education as a lever for combating ignorance, poverty and disease, adding that a number of student refugees completed their high school education at Al-Najah schools and joined colleges of medicine, engineering and science.
On his part, Erin expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti government and people for supporting the Syrian refugees in Turkey.
