GENEVA, April 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Abdulrahman Al-Jassem and Khaled Al-Kouh on Friday won the silver award of environment protection at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2019 for devising a method to protect seashores from erosion.
The new wave absorbers are cost-effective, according to a statement by the jury.
In statements to KUNA, Al-Kouh and Al-Jassem dedicated their medal to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his support to environment protection initiatives.
The award signals the ability of Kuwaiti youth to compete at international forums and offers encouragement for creative youth to embark on initiatives to protect environment, Al-Kouh said.
On his part, Al-Jassem applauded the support from His Highness the Amir and encouragement from Dr. Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Kuwait mission in Geneva.
He noted that Kuwait Representative to the UN Office in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghoneim followed up the stages of development of the new invention and facilitated the participation of the two Kuwaiti inventors in the current exhibition.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Al-Ghoniem, congratulating the two youths on their achievement, said the award testifies to the creatively of Kuwaiti youth and their ability to compete with nearly 800 inventors from more than 45 countries.
The event opened on Wednesday, April 10 and lasts until Sunday, April 14; it displays archetypes and finished products from various technologists like electricity, electronic, mechanics, optics, water, energy and quality of environment. (end) ta.gb
