UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored Al-Saqr and handed him the award
DUBAI, March 28 (KUNA) -- The Dubai-based Arab Journalism Award has picked founder of Kuwait's daily Al-Jarida Mohammad Jasem Al-Saqr to be the winner of its Media Personality of the Year in 2019.
In a ceremony held in Dubai Thursday, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored Al-Saqr and handed him the award in recognition of his great contributions to Kuwaiti, Arabian Gulf and Arab press.
Al-Saqr, also chairman of the Kuwait-based Arab and international relations council and second deputy chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was editor-in-chief of the Kuwaiti daily Al-Qabas during the period from 1983-1999.
He was also editor-in-chief of Al-Qabas international during the period 1985-1990.
He won the International Press Freedom Award of the Committee to Protect Journalists in 1992.
He founded the widely-circulated daily Al-Jarida in 2007. (end)
