ABU DHABI, March 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Special Olympic teams on Monday achieved new five different medals, two golds and three silver, in badminton, powerlifting and bowling competitions at the 15th Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
Mohammad Borabaa won the first gold medal in the individual competition for badminton after a difficult game against Spain's Moreno Victor.
The other gold medal came from Kuwait's Amna Al-Anan in the 30kg powerlifting competition, while her colleague Taif Al-Enezi added the silver medal in the same competition.
The Kuwaiti bowling team won two silver medals in the men's doubles by Mohsen Al-Mashmoum and Abdulaziz Al-Jarki, and by Maha Al-Khashti and Hanadi Al-Muzayel in the girls' doubles.
In this context, First Secretary at Kuwait's Embassy to UAE Nasser Aba Al-Khail praised in a statement to KUNA the Kuwaiti players for their achievements in this international gathering.
The participation and attendance of representatives of the Kuwaiti Embassy in various competitions is part of their role in supporting Kuwait's players, he added.
He praised UAE for hosting the event, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa.
In a statement to KUNA, Kuwaiti National Special Olympics Director Rehab Buresli said that the players were as ambitious as we expected and did a great job to achieve several medals.
Buresli expressed her gratitude to the Kuwait Embassy delegation for its continuous efforts and keenness to overcome all obstacles facing the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the Olympics. (end) my.aa
