1963 -- Sheikh Mubarak Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah becomes Kuwait Army Chief of Staff. He had held the post until 1980.
1988 -- Abdulatif Mohammad Thunnayan Al-Ghanim, a former head of the constitutional assembly, which wrote Kuwait's constitution, dies aged 77.
1991 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah returns home after seven months' absence due to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
2001 -- The National Assembly approves an order for organizing the State's oil policy and participation of foreign companies in oil investments.
2004 -- The Cabinet approves an Amiri grant of KD 32,000 for each Kuwaiti martyr's family with a monthly allowance of KD 150 for each martyr's mother, father, wife and child. Families of non-Kuwaiti martyrs would get KD 40,000 each.
2004 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was granted the Maltese Republic Medal by President Guido de Marco during the latter's visit to Kuwait. (end) gta
