VIENNA, March 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Sadeq Marafi, affirmed Kuwait's commitment to implement all international conventions related to combating drugs Marafi, in remarks to KUNA on Wednesday, on occasion of 62nd session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) to be held Thursday, underscored need for international cooperation and dedications of joint responsibility to fight drugs.
Kuwait has adopted mechanisms to confront effects and ways to recover through a number of rehabilitation centers via framework of a comprehensive and integrated strategy to achieve social security and health stability, he added.
Ambassador Marafi expressed hope that the meeting will come out with recommendations to help countries confront drugs and examine new developments of illegal drugs as well as the use of modern technologies and social communication.
The 62nd session will discuss strengthening forensic detection capability for synthetic drugs as well as for the control of precursors used in the illicit manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances; promoting alternative development as a development-oriented drug control strategy The session is expected to bring together more than 2,000 participants from Member States, parliaments, inter-governmental organizations, civil society, and the scientific community, including delegation from Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior.
