NEW YORK, Mar 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait reiterated its full support for the continuation of bilateral cooperation and coordination between the United Nation (UN) and European Union (EU), as well as the trilateral discussions with the African Union regarding the conflicts in Africa.
This came on late Tuesday during Kuwaiti Representative to the United Nations headquarters Mansour Al-Otaibi's speech in the UNSC annual session about UN-EU cooperation.
He said that he looked forward on seeing tripartite cooperation between UN, Arab league and EU on the security, political and economic levels to achieve peace, stability and development to all nations and people.
He added that in these days the world faced serious challenges such as terrorism, violent extremism, illegal migration, and many other threats which necessitate concerted regional and international efforts to reduce them. Al-Mansour expressed his appreciation for the effort and joint cooperation between UN-EU in Africa, especially in the peacekeeping operation in Mali and Central African Republic, in addition to providing logistical support and training for security forces in Mali.
He pointed out that Kuwait and EU shares goals of promoting international peace and security based on the UN charter. (end) asf.gaa
