RABAT, March 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti MPs Ouda Al-Ruwaie and Al-Humaidi Al-Subaie stressed on the importance of joint Islamic parliamentary work to support the Palestinian Cause.
The remarks came in separate statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the ninth meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) permanent committee on Palestine late Monday, as part of the 14th session of the conference of the Union of Councils of the OIC, held in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
The Palestine committee plays a big role in unifying OIC member-countries' stance against the Israeli occupation, said Al-Ruwaie.
He added that the committee will present an emergency article on providing international protection for Palestinians, during the 140th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Doha next month.
On his part, MP Al-Subaie expressed his rejection of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem last May.
Meanwhile, he hailed the article issued by the UN General Secretariat in December 2017 that incriminates any violations against Jerusalem, including attempts to change the identity of the city.
The MP noted that international parliaments agreed on the emergency article presented by Kuwait, Bahrain and Turkey during IPU's 138th session in Geneva.
Participants in the OIC meeting discussed the impact of moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem on the region and terminating the US decision in recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital as being a violation of the international law. (end) mry.ag
