Medical teams equipped for nat'l holiday celebrations, says ministry

KUWAIT, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- The Health Ministry's emergency department is equipped and ready to respond to incidents of distress during Kuwait's week-long national holiday celebrations, an official said on Sunday.
The ministry has developed an integrated plan to keep up with these celebrations, by providing field clinics along the Arabian Gulf Road all the way to the southern Bnaider resort area, emergencies director Munthir Al-Jalahma said.
Al-Jalahma explained that the plan includes the screening of medical emergency technicians and ambulances, as well as the distribution of liaison officers along concentrated heavily crowded areas.
The team's members have been equipped with support vehicles, scooters, and motorbikes to handle crowded areas, and to provide emergency medical care until the arrival of an ambulance.
An air ambulance is also ready to tend to the needs desert and chalet-goers, he added.
Citizens and residents were urged to cooperate with emergency medical personnel and abide by public security and safety instructions in order to reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
The official also called on parents to pay close attention to their children during the celebrations. (end) mka.mb
