ALGIERS, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Algerian authorities announced on Saturday the arrest of 41 people in protests against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika seeking a fifth term.
The Directorate General for National Security (DGSN) said in a release that it had detained 41 people over public disorder, vandalism, damage to property, violence and assault.
Algerian people, after responding to several videos posted online, took to the streets on Friday in a number of cities across the country to protest against the bid of President Bouteflika for a fifth term.
Bouteflika is supported by some parties and associations, however some opposition parties have called on him to withdraw his nomination. (end) mr.tma.bb
