Kuwait firmly against normalization with Israel -- MP

KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Head of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari reaffirmed that refusing normalization with Israel is a solid part of Kuwait's foreign policy.
Al-Kandari made his remarks in a press statement after the committee's meeting on Wednesday to discuss the participation of the Kuwaiti delegation in the recent Warsaw conference.
Today's meeting was held with the presence of National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Jarallah.
The committee members have openly expressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the national Kuwaiti refusal regarding taking part in the conference alongside Israel.
Kuwait will never be neutral with Israel and will not allow any side to take advantage of the country's participation in the event to convince it on normalization with Israel, he noted.
Al-Kandadri added that the committee will further cooperate with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Information to boost efforts against normalization.
Upon the impact of Kuwait's participation in the event held recently, Speaker Al-Ghanim had affirmed that the Palestinian cause is a top priority to Kuwait.
In the same context last Friday, Al-Jarallah said that the conference is co-hosted by the US and Poland, who Kuwait share strong ties with. He added that the conference's agenda includes topics of great interest to Kuwait, namely peace and security in the Middle East. (end) fn.ns.kah.ag
