WASHINGTON, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- The US lauded in a statement Qatar's "Commitment to partnering with US military personnel... contributions to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, as examples of our enduring defense relationship."
A statement by the Pentagon said that this came during US Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan meeting with Saturday with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
According to the statement, the meeting came to reaffirm the defense relationship between the two countries.
It added that Shanahan and Sheikh Tamim discussed a broad range of defense and regional issues, "including Qatar's generous offer to improve infrastructure at Al-Udeid Air Base." (end)
