Pence warns Europeans not to rely on Russia's energy

BERLIN, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- US Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday warned Europeans of hinging upon Russia's energy supplies and blasted a controversial Russian-German gas pipeline.
Pence gave the warning while addressing the Munich Security Conference in response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel's defence of the German-Russian project.
He said the US government thanks all European partners who are opposed to this joint project, calling on other European countries to follow suit.
Earlier in the day, Merkel defended the Russian-German gas pipeline, considering it a joint European project. (end) anj.mt
