Trump nominates Satterfield as Ambassador to Turkey

WASHINGTON, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- The White House announced Friday evening President Donald Trump intent to nominate Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Satterfield as Ambassador to Turkey.
In a statement, the White House noted that in 2014, Satterfield was special advisor to the Secretary of State for Libya, based in Tripoli, Libya, and served as Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, from 2013-2014.
He served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Baghdad, Iraq, from 2005 -2006, and as the US Ambassador to Lebanon from 1998 to 2001.
The statement also announced Trump's intent to nominate Jeffrey Byard to be Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Byard currently serves as Associate Administrator for Response and Recovery at FEMA.
This comes after FEMA Administrator William "Brock" Long announced his resignation on Wednesday. He was previously questioned over improper use of government resources. (end) si.mb
