Recalled French ambassador to Italy to go back

PARIS, Feb 15 (KUNA) -- The French ambassador to Italy, recently recalled home, would return to Rome later on Friday, French Minister of European Affairs Nathalie Loiseau told RTL radio on Friday.
Loiseau affirmed that the envoy had been called back due to "offensive remarks" against France by some Italian officials.
Ties between France and Italy noticeably soured after Italy's deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio assailed policies of the French president.
Di Maio had also met leaders of the "yellow vests" in Paris, a move eyed with disapproval by Paris.
The "yellow vests" are groups of laborers who have been staging weekly protests in the French capital demanding better living conditions. (end) mjz.rk
