MOSCOW, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti winter sports have made a "huge accomplishment" having qualified for the First Winter Children of Asia Sports Games in Russia's Sakhalin, a sports official said on Tuesday.
The side, including boys and girls, are competing across numerous disciplines, namely ice hockey, speed skating and figure skating.
The event will provide the 8-14 year-olds with crucial practice at such a young age, amidst experienced nations in the sports, Kuwait winter sports club head Fehaid Al-Ajmi said.
Kuwait are taking part with the largest output of talent in the Arab region, and this, says Al-Ajmi, is a testament to the club's commitment to backing and handing opportunities to the largest number possible of young hopefuls.
The youngsters are a source of Kuwaiti pride, he added, as Lulwah Al-Dharman prepares to head into the girls' individual figure skating event, where she will be up against competitors from the likes of Russia, Japan and South Korea. (end) as.sd
