GCC bonds reached USD 153.7 billion in 2018 -- Al-Markaz

KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Primary bonds and sukuks in GCC markets reached USD 153.7 billion during 2018, dropping by 12 percent as compared to 2017, according to a press release issued by Kuwait's Financial Center (Markaz) on Saturday.
Saudi Arabia was number one in terms of volume of these issuances, it said, adding that central banks in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman issued, last year, USD 61.87 billion worth of bonds.
Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) topped central banks of the other GCC countries, with issued bonds amounting to USD 30.43 billion, 49.18 percent of the total issues by the other central banks in the GCC countries.
Those issued by the central bank of Bahrain amounted to USD 15.42 billion. (end) md.rk
