VIENNA, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- The International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) launched Dr. Mahathir Mohamad Fund to aid anti-corruption officials in facing threats to their role.
IAACA president Ali Al-Marri made the announcement at the Vienna-based organisation's annual meeting.
The fund was named after the incumbent Malaysian prime minister in recognition of his anti-graft efforts, added Al-Marri, who is also Qatar's Attorney General.
Doha has decided to pledge QAR 1 million (USD 275,000) to start the fund, Al-Marri said.
Attending the talks on behalf of Kuwait was the head of its Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Abdulrahman Al-Nemash. (end) mah.sd
