Bulgaria accuses network of funding terrorists in Mideast

VIENNA, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Bulgarian Public Prosecution Saturday accused five Syrians and a Bulgarian woman of financing terrorist groups in the Middle East.
The arrestees transferred at least 25 million euros (USD 28 million) to terrorist groups since 2016, Rumyana Arnaudova, Prosecution's spokesperson, said in a press statement, cited by local media in Vienna.
Arnaudova said the five Syrians and the Bulgarian were not using the normal wire transfer to send the money but through persons.
She added they also bought at least 100 vehicles from Bulgaria and delivered them to the terrorist groups.
The arrest was a result of collaboration between Bulgarian intelligence and other intelligent agencies, said Arnaudova.
Bulgarian security forces arrested 43 people in seven cities yesterday. (end) mah.bs
