Israeli army attacks Gaza Strip

GAZA, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- The Israeli army used warplanes, including F-16 fighter jets, and the artillery to attack several sites of Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza Strip on Saturday.
The air attacks targeted Al-Qadesia - to the north of the Strip, Al-Yarmouk - to the east, and Jebel Al-Ris - to the northeast, witnesses told KUNA without elaborating on casualties or material damage.
Meanwhile, local media reported that the Israeli artillery pounded several parts along the eastern borders of the Strip.
The Palestinian armed groups hit back by firing missiles into Jewish settlements in southern Israel this evening.
The attacks, targeting Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council and Sdot Negev Regional Council, resulted in neither human nor material damage, the Israeli army said, blaming the attacks on Hamas. (end) wab.gb
