KUWAIT, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- A delegation, compromising of 12 excelling male high school students, will head to Tajikistan on a trip sponsored by Kuwait Fund for Arabic Economic Development (KFAED) in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
As part of the 11th (be among the best) program, the KFAED continues to provide support to excelling students via trips to countries and areas benefiting from the fund's loans and grants.
Speaking to KUNA Thursday, head of press at KFAED's media department and trip coordinator Ahmad Al-Sarraf said that the fund was and will continue to be an entity that would support to education and students.
The trip, which will last until January 17, aims at broadening the student's knowledge about other countries and also act as a medium to inform them about Kuwait's generous contributions to the world, said Al-Sarraf.
He added that the current trip will include meetings with Tajik officials and also would include visits to cultural, historic, and touristic sites.
The KFAED and the Ministry of Education had chosen the students according to their achievements, revealed Al-Sarraf.
Meanwhile, the fund and the Ministry of Education is organizing a similar trip for 12 excelling female students to Sri Lanka.
The KFAED program for excelling high school students began in 2010. The fund had a precursor program for newly engineering graduates in 2004.
On his part, Tajikistan's Ambassador to Kuwait Zubaydov Zubaydullo Najotovich lauded His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for building a reputation for Kuwait as a nation of active political role and strong humanitarian reputation.
Ambassador Najotovich said that Tajikistan was eager to welcome the 12-students delegation.
The KFAED-sponsored trip will include various activities and visits, showing the fund's contribution to the development of Tajikistan, said the Ambassador.
The students will view KFAED's efforts in Tajikistan and hopefully the trip will leave an impression on them, affirmed the Ambassador who hoped that the visit would contribute to the further development of bilateral ties.
The KFAED had help Tajikistan to develop its infrastructure and boots the country's energy capacity through various projects in Tajikistan, a country known for its water resources representing around 60 percent of drinkable water in the central Asia region.
During his last visit to Kuwait, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon discussed with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the possibility of boosting cooperation within water resources.
He indicated that Tajikistan is seriously focusing on promoting water resources worldwide through its cooperation with the UN on the (2018-2028 International Decade for Action, 'Water for Sustainable Development'), an initiative gathering 170-member countries.
Regarding relations with Kuwait, Ambassador Najotovich revealed that since the opening of the embassy in 2012, Tajikistan and Kuwait had set plans to boost ties on all possible spheres.
He commended the level of cooperation between Kuwait and Tajikistan, namely within the cultural domain with the continuous visits by Tajik musical groups to the Gulf country. (end) mak.gta
