GCC, Moroccan officials ponder youth empowerment means

By Mustafa Al-Mereni RABAT, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- GCC and Moroccan decision makers in the youth sector got together here on Tuesday to examine ideas and plans on empowering the juniors to be effective participants in development.
The meeting constitutes an opportunity to exchange expertise and ponder prospected activities, aimed at empowering the youngsters "in our countries with the necessary capacities to be engaged in the comprehensive development process for achieving prosperity and stability," said Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Director-General of Kuwait Youth Public Authority.
Al-Mutairi was speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on sidelines of the fourth meeting of the "the joint youth commission tasked with youngsters' affairs," which groups officials from the GCC countries and Morocco.
Conferees, according to the meeting agenda, are examining "the youth activation diploma," a program designed to train the young generation on special technical and social skills.
Such a program is helpful for empowering the young citizens for effective engagement in their countries' development, he added.
Human resources, namely the youth, are main objectives in achieving Kuwait Vision 2035.
Meanwhile, Othman Kayer, the director general of the youth and children department at the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, said in a statement to KUNA that the meeting was part of the efforts to solidify further the cooperation between the GCC countries and Morocco, particularly in the youth domain.
For his part, Walid Al-Farhan, the youth director general department at the GCC Secretariat General, affirmed importance of the meeting for cementing the cooperation, in line with guidelines by the two sides' top leaders.
The conferees have already agreed on an "executive road map" for activating agreed-upon agreements.
Participants in the two-day meeting includes officials from the ministries of youth. (end) mry.rk
